MTB Transitions To E-Bike
With The Relay Bike, the mountain bike goes electric. While we don’t have the full specifications yet, we do know the frame allows for 160 and 170mm travel and it is compatible with dual 29 or mixed wheels.
This is a lightweight bike (we still don’t know the exact weight) with a detachable battery. Thanks to the smaller battery and motor, it rides more like a regular bike. The motor is placed in the frame and functions as a normal drive train without adding too much weight when you remove the battery. And you can remove the battery in a matter of seconds—no tools required! This means you can switch between a mountain bike and e-bike modes throughout your day hassle-free.
This cool ride seems to be able to do it all: according to Transition, it will seamlessly take you from your daily commute to a trail adventure. Because it’s dual-purposed, you won’t have to waste money on buying both a mountain bike and an e-bike; the Relay can do both.
The Buy
The Relay is planned to hit the market in spring 2023. It will be made in two variants, carbon and aluminum frames, and in six sizes, from extra small to double extra large. Is this bike going to be anything more than a gateway e-bike into real e-biking? It remains to be seen once we find out all the specs!
