Samsung has just unveiled the long-awaited Galaxy S22 series featuring Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra at a virtual Unpacked event. These three variants of the Galaxy S22 come with different characteristics and, of course, different price tags. There is also talk of the Galaxy S20 FE, Fan Edition budget phone.
Samsung’s Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra Specifications
The new models feature the familiar design – what we’re already used to seeing from the company. They do, however, bring significant upgrades compared to their predecessors.
The models have a 50-megapixel main camera with a sensor 23 percent larger than the one found on the previous Samsung series, S21. All three phones also come with internal camera upgrades that should make them better at taking photos in the dark and automatically framing subjects. The display is protected by Corning’s new Gorilla Glass Victus+, making it more resilient to damage.
The Galaxy S22 comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and it supports 45-watt fast wired charging, the estimated 70 percent in 35 minutes, meaning faster charging times in comparison with the previous series. The bad news? You will need to buy a compatible charger separately as it is not included in the box.
All three models come with IP68 water/dust resistance and support 5G connectivity, while the S22 Plus and S22 Ultra support Wi-Fi 6E.
Galaxy S22 Ultra stands out among the three with quad rear cameras, an integrated S Pen, and impressive 1TB storage. Furthermore, it comes in black, white, green, and burgundy, while the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus come in black, white, pink gold, and green.
Some good news for the environment, not just for tech geeks: Samsung used plastic from recycled fishing nets in the making of this series.
This way they hope to prevent over 50 tons of fishing nets from entering the ocean. So you are not just buying a phone, you are saving the planet, as well! Sort of.
The Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra are available to pre-order.
