A Masterful Keyboard With Countless Customizations
The Logitech MX Mechanical comes in two sizes: a full-sized 104-keys keyboard with a Numpad, and an 84-keys mini version without a Numpad. Both mechanical keyboards use low-profile keys and have Bluetooth connection/Logi Bolt USB for up to three devices.
Precise and stable switches deliver fantastic sound and feedback, while dual-color keycaps make it easy to orient yourself and stay in the typing flow. There are three unique switch types: Tactile Quiet, Linear, and Clicky. The first type has a satisfying tactile bump and offers precise feedback, reactive key reset and low noise so you can focus on your work. Linear key switches deliver fast reactivity and super-smooth typing feeling with minimal spring force – great for uninterrupted key travel. The Clicky switches, as their name suggests, have an audible click and tactile feedback for that familiar, satisfying mechanical keyboard sound and feel.
Best of all, the MX Mechanical keyboards can pair to macOS, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS, Android, iOS, and iPadOS via Bluetooth or Logi Bolt USB receiver. And as we’ve mentioned, they can pair with up to three devices simultaneously, as well as seamlessly switch between them at the push of a button.
The MX Mechanical keyboard also features smart illumination that lights up when your hands approach and automatically adjusts the brightness level according to your conditions for optimal battery consumption (more on battery in a sec). Both full-size and mini versions have a variety of immersive backlighting effects that can be adjusted within five levels – you just press the function and bulb key at the same time or play around with the effects via the LogiOptions+ software.
So what about the battery life? Logitech claims that both the mini and full-size model will stay powered for up to 15 days on a full charge, or – brace yourself for this – for up to 10 months when backlighting is turned off. That is a huge difference and one that makes keeping that smart illumination – no matter how pretty and immersive it might be – turned off 100% worth it in our books.
The Buy
The full-size MX Mechanical keyboard is available in Graphite for $166.99 regardless of which key switches you choose. The MX Mechanical Mini also comes in Graphite and costs $149.
