Huawei Mate X
Chinese telecoms giant Huawei is giving to the smartphone-crazed world the Mate X. This piece of revolutionary technology boasts of a humongous 8-inch folding main screen plus a few other pluses to redefine the modern smartphone experience.
When in its folded or closed mode, the Mate X can still give you a remarkable 6.6-inch AMOLED display on the cover. This serves like the screen of a conventional smartphone. It gives you a stunning 19.5:9 aspect ratio with 1148×2480 resolution. This display is still far better than other smartphones in the market.
But the real deal with the Huawei Mate X is when you unfold the smartphone to reveal its stunning 8-inch AMOLED display. This main display comes with a screen-to-body ratio of 86.9% and a resolution of 2200×2480 pixels. Its pixel density may only be 414 ppi, but it sure is bright and clear.
Not only does the Mate X boast of a large screen. It also features a surprising 4-camera system in the rear. Only the Nokia 9 PureView comes with more cameras on the back at 5. The Mate X features a 40-megapixel wide camera, a 16-megapixel ultrawide shooter, an 8-megapixel telephoto, and a Time-of-Flight camera. Whereas Nokia corroborates with Carl Zeiss for its optics, Huawei partners with German optics giant, Leica.
Perhaps the only thing that people may find objectionable with Huawei is its insistence on using its proprietary chipset technology, the HiSilicon Kirin 980. It makes up for it by putting 8 cores that clock at a maximum of 2.6 GHz. It also puts enough memory and storage for humongous applications. The Mate X features an 8GB RAM and 512 GB ROM configuration.
Huawei continues to surprise industry stalwarts Apple and Samsung. The Mate X is one big – and very much welcome – surprise from the Chinese giant.
