There are few things more unrelentingly disappointing than prying open your cooler and finding lukewarm beer. GoSun seems to understand what a crushing blow finding warm beers or hot-cold cuts can be on a particularly scorching summer day. So in that spirit, they designed the Chillest Solar Cooler to keep your chillables cool even without a bag of ice.
Chillest Solar Cooler: The Nitty Gritty
The Chillest Solar Cooler weighs 42 pounds and has a 45-liter capacity. That’s roughly enough for 60 beers, but who’s counting? It houses a built-in battery that boasts up to 10 hours of run time. You can charge it via solar power, but it also can be powered by an internal battery (up to 10 hours) or 12 or 24 volt DC/AC power.
The crux of the solar cooler is that rather than relying on a good old bag of ice, the Chillest allows you to set your temperature with a built-in compressor. As a result, it can be set anywhere from -4 degrees to 68 degrees without any ice. Heck, it can even make ice. It also features interior lighting, tie-down straps, organizational baskets, and can separate into two separate compartments to provide a freezer and fridge at the same time.
Availability & Pricing
A lot. The Chillest Solar Cooler is available to preorder through Indiegogo with initial shipments slated for July 2021. GoSun lists the cooler at $900 MSRP, but you can score yours for just $599 if you place one of the first 100 preorders — so act fast!
There are plenty of coolers out there that say they’ll keep everything nice and cold for hours or even days. But with the Chillest Solar Cooler, all the space that would usually be tied up with ice is free to jam-pack with everything you need for a fun day out. And with the added reliability of solar power, your beers will stay cool even when the sun is blazing.
