Gerber generates a fresh take on the multitool knife with its new Prybrid. Instead of a burly unit that takes up pocket space and weighs you down, the Prybrid is a keychain-able tool with a standard razor blade. It’s got a stripped-down utility feel and eight tools in total.
Pack the Prybrid and end your days of heavy tool-toting or never having the right thing at the right time.
Prybrid Utility and Features
The double-ended tool packs eight functions into a 4-inch-long, 1.7-ounce package. You get a pry bar, wire stripper, nail puller, small and medium flathead drivers, bottle opener, 550 cord wrap, and a replaceable razor blade. Handle scales are G-10, and the blade locks for safety.
The tool promises to get simple jobs done in the clutch, and you won’t find yourself without it because of its minimal size. Let’s face it — it’s annoying to be forced into using the wrong tool for the task at hand. Not only that, sometimes it flat out doesn’t work. Caveat: if you don’t know how to open a bottle with a knife, you clearly don’t hang out with our staff. Then again, that’s probably a good thing.
Gerber Prybrid Options and MSRP
You can get the Prybrid in 2 different sizes/configurations and four different colors. The smaller Prybrid X comes in silver or black, and it has a #11 hobby blade like an Exact-O knife. The bigger Prybrid Utility comes in green or gray and holds a standard utility blade.
The Utility is a substantially bigger tool than the X — it’s 1.25 inches wide, 4.25 inches long, and weighs almost 3 ounces. It also trades out the X’s parachute cord for a cord cutter.
Check out the Prybrid lineup at Gerber’s website and never try to put a square peg into a round EDC hole again. MSRP is $23 for the X and $25 for the Utility.
