Earbud fans rejoice: Beats by Dre just released its highly-anticipated Studio Buds. With active noise cancellation and Siri capability, the earbuds pack a lot of functionality into a compact set. It’s a direct foray into EDC territory for Beats, whose earlier earbuds were more geared toward athletes. The new earbuds hit the market this week.
Beats Studio Buds Main Features
Studio Buds let users get lost in the sound with active noise cancellation. But when it’s important to hear the world around you, you can switch to Transparency mode. Transparency mixes external sound with the user’s audio, using external-facing microphones. A simple button toggles between modes.
Battery life is 8 hours. Studio Buds’ charging case delivers two full charges anytime, anywhere. In ANC mode, the earbuds deliver 15 hours of listening when combined with the fully charged case. If all you need is a little extra juice to get you through, Fast Fuel mode delivers an hour of charge in 5 minutes.
Beats builds Studio Buds with Apple and Android compatibility, though iOS users are at a distinct advantage. Connecting to the wireless earbuds with Bluetooth enables Siri for a hands-free experience. Android users can download the Beats app to access additional features.
Reports Show Studio Buds Level Up
Reports indicate Beats builds the Studio Buds with characteristic attention to detail. A central-piston-driven, dual-element diaphragm delivers premium sound at all levels. And for long listening sessions, Beats builds a tiny vent into each earbud to relieve eardrum pressure.
The earbuds’ dual microphones filter out ambient noise, so your voice is clear during phone calls. And they’re reportedly compatible with Find My iOS and Find My Android. Of course, if my earbuds had that functionality, I’d be late to the function a lot less.
Beats Studio Buds Options, Pricing
The newly-released Studio Buds come in black, red, or white. In addition, beats by Dre includes a set of small, medium, and large eartips in the box, plus a USB-C cable. MSRP is $150.
