If you want a basic-yet-capable commuter e-bike that comes standard with everything you need to get to and from work, school, or the store, the Aventon Level is worth a look.
Featuring full coverage fenders, a heavy-duty rear rack, and a powerful motor, the Level can assist up to 28mph while you’re pedaling, or cruise along at 20mph without pedaling by using the throttle. Add in a big battery, fast charging, and average 40-mile range, and it should be all the bike you need for daily rides. Here’s a closer look at all the details…
The Aventon Level is their flagship commuter e-bike, getting streamlined looks thanks to an integrated battery and smoothly shaped tubes. It comes in three sizes to fit riders from 5’1″ up to 6’4″, and in both standard and step-thru models.
Unlike a lot of electric-assist bikes in this price range, the Li-Ion battery is hidden inside a downtube compartment, delivering upscale aesthetics. It’s removable for easier charging (but you can also charge it on the bike) and packs 672Wh.
Combine that with the 500W (750W peak) brushless rear hub motor and it’ll deliver an average of 40 miles of range per charge, and assist at up to 28mph. An 8-speed drivetrain helps you keep it in the right gear and cadence, too.
The Level comes with a remote switch so you can adjust the amount of assist it provides. There’s also a throttle for those times when you don’t feel like pedaling, or just need a little kickstart to get rolling from a stop (like when starting on a hill).
Features like a sturdy rear rack that’s attached directly to the frame, and full-coverage fenders, add a lot of utility to the bike. Add pannier bags or a child seat or rear basket to haul gear for work or school, or get your wee ones out for some fresh air.
The bikes come with wide all-conditions tires on 27.5″ rims for better roll over performance, plus a 75mm travel front suspension fork to tame the bumps. (Note: Fork shown is different from what’s shipping due to supply chain issues…all bikes are currently delivered with a Zoom brand fork)
The Level Step-Through Commuter bike comes with all the same features, but in two sizes -S/M and M/L- to fit riders from 4’11” to 6’2″. Retail price for both models is $1,799, and both are in stock now as of this story going live. All bikes are delivered mostly assembled with only the front wheel and (fully equipped) handlebar needing to be installed.
All Aventon bikes come with a 14-day return policy and one-year warranty.
