Andrew Marshall graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.F.A. in Film and Television and has since enjoyed a diverse career that includes public television, freelance video production, education, fine art, photography, and freelance journalism.

His broad interests include trail and road running, mountain and road biking, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, long-distance backpacking, camping, chess, philosophy, watercolor painting, and cooking. Andrew has completed thru-hikes of the Appalachian Trail, Colorado Trail, Tahoe Rim Trail, and many others.

When he isn't writing about gear, he's the managing editor and podcast producer of Backpacking Light. His essays, poetry, paintings, and photographs have been featured in publications ranging from niche internet sites to renowned literary journals.
