Does a new Apple product even need a special introduction? The brand is one of the most recognizable worldwide and an undisputed leader in new technologies. Take AirPods as an example. First introduced in 2016, they took the world by storm; now, it’s impossible to leave your house without noticing at least a few wearers within the first 10 minutes.
Here we are now, three years after Apple introduced AirPods Pro (October 2019), with a new upgrade: AirPods Pro 2nd Generation.
The new and improved AirPods have the same iconic design and some significantly enhanced features. The consensus is, however, that given how strong the competition has become since 2019, these buds can leave you feeling underwhelmed.
AirPods Pro Features:
- Active Noise Cancellation
- Adaptive Transparency
- Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking
- Adaptive EQ
- Vent system for pressure equalization
- Custom high-excursion Apple driver
- Custom high dynamic range amplifier
- Touch control
- Chip: Apple H2, Apple U1
Same, But New
AirPods Pro doesn’t bring any change in the design: they look exactly the same as the original AirPods.
The best improvement is that AirPods Pro delivers up to 2x more Active Noise Cancellation than its predecessor. They boast advanced Adaptive Transparency that reduces outside noise, while Personalized Spatial Audio provides a more immersive listening experience. Adaptive EQ adjusts to your ears in real-time and delivers crystal-clear sound. Still, this is nothing we haven’t already seen on other wireless earbuds on the market.
Thanks to the Touch control, you can adjust the volume with a swipe and manage playback functions from the stem.
MagSafe Charging Case brings the most significant changes: it has been revamped with the Precision Finding features, a built-in speaker, and a convenient lanyard loop.
AirPods Pro also improves battery life: up to six hours of listening on a single charge and up to 30 hours with the case.
The Buy
The 2nd generation AirPods cost $256. They come with a MagSafe charging case, lightning to USB-C cable, and silicone ear tips in four sizes.
