The Goods The Track
Modern road warriors will love the way The Track is designed as if it is conceptualized and built specifically for them. And while this bicycle looks like any other 2-wheeled cruiser, there are some features that are oh-so irresistibly stunning.
From the side The Track looks like an anorexic bike with extra-thin frame. One gets the feeling that it might be dangerous to ride especially if the rider is more of the heavyweight kind. However, The Track is actually made of chromoly steel, a unique alloy that combines chromium and molybdenum. It’s the kind of low alloy steel that can give superior strength to any structure, much better than mild carbon steel. Not only is it strong and durable, it also has exceptional corrosion resistance; a characteristic that 2-wheeled warriors can appreciate as they zigzag their way through traffic going to or from work.
The same frame gives The Track its lightweight characteristic. One can always carry it on his shoulder with relative ease. Organizing it on a wall-mounted bike rack should also be easy. Putting it on the bike rack on top of your SUV or truck is made hassle-free because of its lightweight features.
The chain drive mechanism doesn’t really look anything spectacular, however. It only comes with a single-gear drive, robbing you of the opportunity to shift between gears to make an uphill climb less unforgiving on the calves. Yet, The Track does a magnificent job at integrating carbon into its belt drive instead of the usual steel chain. This combination is perfect for folks who prefer the stability of a single drive and the relative toughness of carbon.
If there’s one thing that is really surprising about The Track, then that would be its handlebar. Gone is the usual bike frame-matching piece of steel called the handlebar. In its stead is a handlebar that’s made of solid wood, hardened to give it one tough attribute and given a finish that highlights the story of the tree’s life. The leather saddle offers an extra touch of luxury, too.
