Have you ever wished your bed would categorically make you happy? Instead of waking up on the wrong side, or even the right side, and then just feeling miserable and pissed off anyway, you can preorder the Opus SoundBed.
What does it do? The SoundBed performs “Immersive SoundHealing” to facilitate “emotional fitness.” What does that mean? Well in layman’s terms, you lay on it and it makes happy sounds to make you happy.
There’s a lot more to it than that. (According to many alternative-healing professional types on Opus’ website, a lot more.) Let’s lay down, tune in, and find out.
The Soundbed Effect
The promo video for the SoundBed is borderline terrifying. Have you ever seen The Wicker Man? A bit like that. People in various states of SoundHealing-induced clarity gush esoteric about how their SoundBed experience makes them feel. They also talk about what they think it does. The video undulates with eerie meditation music and meanders through trippy visuals, with renderings of everything from a single-celled galaxy to a human fetus. Experts discuss vibration and superpowers. Children eat ice cream cones.
What does it all mean? Ayurvedic Practitioner Liz Wolf says “[SoundBed] somehow has the magic of blasting open my heart.”
Wow. Can you be more specific? Opus Co-Founder Adam Schlender says “immersive SoundHealing combines spatial sound and spatial vibration in a way that leverages the power of sound and vibration but is able to target and personalize it to you, your needs, and your body in a really powerful new way.”
That’s the vibe we wanted. Yes, SoundBed uses sound and vibration, tailored to your particular energy vessel — er, body — to help you feel more at ease. The bed creates a “cocoon” of sensation (according to Alex Murphy, Opus employee) to immerse the entire body in vibratory sound. You can also use it to target specific areas of the body for a customized experience.
Tech and Influence
“Being able to choose my inner state is going to empower me so much on my journey toward creating everything I want,” says Conscious Relationship Coach Elsa Moreck. That’s not proprietary at all, but it doesn’t have to be — Opus puts the necessary technology in your hands. Just use the app and choose between various aspirational inner states! Literally. Grounded? Touch it. Joyful? Touch that. Powerful? Oooh, careful with that one, Machiavelli.
“I feel like I’m surrendering to a song that my body already knows how to play,” says Jungian Psychologist Eric Godsey. SoundBed could be said to be a music-playing bed, but that judgment would fall well short of the mark. It orchestrates a combination of music, meditations, and frequencies to generate a full experience. Other meditation modalities like breath work are encouraged.
To pull off the vibe, Opus says it’s collaborated with vibroacoustic engineers, sound healers, expert guides, and others. The bed is the culmination of a project designed to fulfill its 3 pillars of emotional fitness: to restore (heal), to shift (elevate), and to create (attract).
Good Vibes on Preorder
Interested? Personally, I’m in a tizzy. During other life stages, I have taken sufficient street drugs to achieve a few strange experiences. But I cannot imagine the excitement of purchasing a consumer furniture item that could produce the same effect.
As of this writing, you could still reserve the Opus SoundBed for $500 off MSRP, for as little as a $100 deposit. If you run out of time and have to buy it at full retail, it’ll cost you $2000.
But you have to think — if Moreck is right, and SoundBed unlocks your ability to “create everything you want,” you could just use it to create another $2000.
