Handle Your Home Security with EZVIZ DB1 Video Doorbell
Convenience seems like the name of the game regarding smart home gadgets; enabling control from your phone or voice control connects you to your coveted safe space. Inside your home is already connected with various smart home gadgets but outside? Security providers can be expensive, the install can be timely, and the overall result can leave you out of the loop. EZVIZ security products allow you to handle your home’s security personally. The EZVIZ DB1 smart video doorbell is among the best wireless doorbell cameras: with an easy install and connectivity from the EZVIZ App to the smart doorbell unit is practical and handy when necessary.
What is the Best Video Doorbell?
Glad you asked. At $120, this gadget packs a punch, and I can see the appeal of the best smart alarms and video doorbells. The EZVIZ has a 3MP Sony Starlight Sensor for improved night vision up to 16-feet in front of the camera. The camera — both in daylight and the dark — is sharp and clear, and the two-way microphone audio is an additional perk. It has a 180-degree field view, and with the IP65 weather rating, even the weather won’t break your 24/7 home watch.
Using the EZVIZ DB1
From the get-go, I wasn’t sure about setting the EZVIZ DB1 up; electrical wires and hangers usually aren’t my DIY first choice, but after reading through the step-by-step instruction booklet, I realized it couldn’t be more than a half-hour job. The install of the DB1 was not all I chalked it up to be. The instruction manual was sufficient, but for a nervous noob electrician, a trip to YouTube University was necessary to confirm which harness wires connected to which doorbell terminal.
In the box, EZVIZ sent everything I needed for the install except a drill and pencil. The EZVIZ video doorbell comes with a few different mounting plates for the best view of your front porch or driveway and a few doorbell plate covers to match your home’s aesthetic. I was able to mount my DB1 facing slightly right instead of straight to include a broad view of my driveway as well.
Connecting the EZVIZ app to the unit was a breeze with the QR code — the app prompts what to do the minute it’s opened. The app moves through settings for the unit—storage, microphone access, alerts, motion detection. The motion detection picks up on the slightest movement; if you have frequently roaming critters and wildlife, you’ll know. Of course, you can turn off the alerts while at home.
The DB1 allowed me to leave the house on a day I was expecting a valuable delivery. I set the doorbell, left, and ran through errands. I received an alert and was able to talk to the delivery driver about a signature and hiding the package. If the DB1 is anything, it’s convenient. But it does take a few days to create the habit of turning on the home-away mode when leaving home.
