Heys Stealth Luggage

We can’t imagine ever going back to luggage without wheels, but then we mightn’t have to if careless baggage handlers have their way with our gear. Heys Stealth Luggage — to a degree — reinvents the wheel with aircraft-inspired, retractable spinner wheels that fold and stow away safely (albeit individually) in an instant, ensuring they’ll still be firmly attached to your luggage come time for baggage claim. This also results in increased packing space by roughly 10% while still meeting international travel requirements thanks to reduced ground clearance. Else, the Stealth also boasts a durable polycarbonate exterior, a fully lined interior complete with compression straps, and comes in three sizes: 21″, 26″, and 30″.

Lauching in Fall. Find them then at Heys – $250 to $350

Hot on the heels of the Tool Pen comes the Mininch Tool Pen Mini, a brand new screwdriver that doesn’t simply use the same bits as the original. The aluminum Tool Pen Mini employs a similar Pop-A-Point design that lets you’d select bits like the push-up pencils of old, exposing their sizes and shapes through windows while cycling through. The 21 bits offered are of the smaller varieties used in eyeglasses, compact electronics, and the like, crafted with long slender tips for better reach. Fill the pen with 5 bits, affix the magnetic cap, then clip it to your pocket until called upon.

Therm-a-Rest Treo Chair

Hearing have a seat sucked when your parents wanted to chat. Hearing have a seat really sucks when your boss wants a talk, and even more so when in a police interrogation room (not that we can vouch for that). But sitting on the Therm-a-Rest Treo Chair is a pleasant surprise given its exceptionally small footprint. This portable and easy to use chair offers a seat that’s 13-inches off the ground and provides a steady platform for your posterior. A composite tripod base is at home on sand, rocks, dirt or linoleum and the beefy aluminum frame gives the TREO the ability to support individuals of up to 250lbs. It weighs in at a respectable 2 pounds and 3 ounces — not quite as light as the Mayfly but higher off the ground to make up for it — and comes with a built in storage band for quick and easy packing into its own base.

Grab one at Amazon or REI – $100

There’s no denying the planned obsolescence that goes into the design of virtually all our modern electronics. AIAIAI flips this ugly practice on its head with their TMA-2 Modular Headphones, a set of cans that come together from individually selected speakers, headbands, earpads, and cables for a grand total of 360 combinations. First, choose from PU foam-, silicone-, or leather-padded headbands. Couple these to one of four 40mm drivers depending on your preferred listening profile, add on over- or on-ear earpads made of either PU leather or microfiber, and select one of six cables of varying lengths and with/without 1 or 3 button mics. And if you decide to eventually switch it up — or if any one component fails — swapping parts is as easy as snapping and plugging them in.
