At a compact 10-inches tall with a 6.6-inch diameter, the new Mac Pro’s cylindrical form factor radically differentiates itself from its predecessor – but then, so does its performance. Built around a single, ultra-quiet fan that pulls air upwards through one massive unified thermal core, the new Pro packs dual AMD FirePro GPUs with up to 6GB VRAM, a Xeon E5 processor with up to 12 cores, four-channel ECC DDR3 memory running at 1866MHz, and PCI Express Flash storage that’s even quicker than current-gen SATA-based solid state drives. And, if you were wondering, the power button, four USB 3.0 ports, six Thunderbolt ports, an HDMI 1.4 plug and dual audio jacks all lie on opposite of its sleek, featureless front.
