Seagate Momentus XT 750GB

The Seagate Momentus XT might look like a regular, boring laptop hard drive, but it’s in fact a fusion of standard platter-based design with a bit of NAND flash (8GB to be exact, the same stuff  as in those really, really expensive SSD hard drives). We’re pretty excited since we live off our laptops, have a need for speed and tons of space for all of our junk, yet can’t spare the month’s rent required to buy an SSD. To be clear, this is the second gen version of the Momentus XT, the old ones being slower, having less NAND flash (4GB), less overall capacity (500GB max), and packing less awesomeness.

While not as quick as an actual SSD, the Momentus XT is a good compromise at a very affordable price of 189$ (MSRP – though with the floods prices have gone up a bit). Click here for more info, or visit Amazon to order – 212$.
